Mission

Picture From Fundy National Park, N.B.ProSolarTec strives to find an economical way of using the Sun's energy to produce a sustainable and permeant source of energy that is environmentally sound and safe for the planet.

According to the IPCC, climate change is largely due to the burning of fossil fuels by the human race. For a little over one hundred years we have been using these carbon-based fuels to produce and satisfy our energy needs and we have learned that the major byproduct of these fuels is Carbon Dioxide. This gas has a tendency to trap heat thus if there is more Carbon Dioxide within the atmosphere, more heat will be trapped from the sun's radiation.

Enter Prometheus Solar Technologies, ProSolarTec has the capability and knowhow to help eliminate the need for fossil fuels and thus eliminate human caused global warming. Because the company's Solar+ units have the capability of producing steam efficiently, energy production  can be achieved through propelling a turbine, which could replace coal burning, natural gas and other heavy fossil fuel power plants. On top of this. the Solar+ can also be used as a Solar Furnace. This eliminates the need to burn fossil fuels to in processes that require high temperatures.

Gamma II Vaporizes Steel

The LIFE Prometheus team inadvertently vaporized steel using the Gamma II prototype on the 10th of February 2010.  The test, which had initially been intended to be the first steel pour using Prometheus solar technology, quickly became the first vaporization of steel when the steel sample was left in the light focus for a couple extra minutes.  In the time between determining that the sample was ready to pour and preparing an appropriate sand bed for pouring, the steel completely vaporized.  All that was left when the contents of the crucible were dumped out was some slag, the steel had vaporized into thin air.
